365 project

no longer counting.

Hi. As you may have noticed, I’m a little bit behind schedule with this 365 project. I know, this is not the first time I’ve missed a few days, and I actually have the wonderful excuse of my baby sister’s birth to excuse my recent absence. However, after taking a step back, I’ve realized that I don’t really want to catch up again. I don’t want to take pictures for the sake of taking pictures. I truly love photography, and I do believe that I’m fairly good at it when it’s something I care about. Taking a picture every day was a nice experiment, and yes I learned more about my camera, but for the most part my pictures were not very interesting. They were experiments, last minute thoughts, and the occasional doodle. I’m not sure I could consider myself a photography blog, to be honest.

I’m not giving up entirely, though. Just maybe changing most of my plan.

My biggest issue is time. Between school, work, family, friends, and sleep (you know, when my schedule allows for sleep), I very rarely am able to add taking a good photograph and writing an interesting blog post to my day. Up to this point, some days I’ve been behind, other days I post at midnight when I finally get a minute, and that work is not something that needs to be shown to the world. Plus, by constantly changing my subject day by day, I’m not allowing any time to get my better projects to the point I would like them.

For those reasons, I am quitting my 365 project.

I don’t think I want to quit blogging, though. I’ve discovered that I actually really like it. I know I’m a small blog with not a lot of followers, but the few of you I have are very supportive, and I love seeing that you care. Thank you for sticking with me. 🙂 I’d like to stick with you as well, and hopefully give you less, but better quality, content to read and look at.

I don’t know yet exactly how many changes I’m going to make. I’ve thought it may be better to start completely fresh. For the time being, I think I’m going to go though and delete any cringe-worthy content, and from now on see what I can do to make this blog more interesting for you. Perhaps a name change is in order…

If you are interested in the wonderful distraction that finally caused me to reevaluate how I spend my time, here are some pictures of the adorable Teegan Fay:

Oh, and yes, these were taken on my phone. Here she is two days old. ^.^

Yes, I will be taking better pictures of her, with a better camera, very soon. Seeing as she is only a week old, I have yet to do anything but hold her, admire her, and let her take up all of my attention. 🙂

Have a lovely day!

  1. Such a cute baby 🙂
I never did a 365 project for that same reason, I started a 52-week photo project once but didn’t get to finish because taking photos for it became an obligation…
I started my blog in 2011 as one thing and with time it became a personal blog, but I never deleted any of the old posts. I like to have them all as the progression of the blog and it’s nice to be able to look back at it. Perhaps in the future you’ll regret deleting them 😉

    1. Thank you for understanding. I’ve been having second thoughts since I posted this. I’ve actually been getting more ideas and thinking “I could have come up with enough posts to finish.” But, on second thought, now I don’t have to feel obligated to post anything I don’t feel is finished.
I may have been a bit over selective in deleting posts, although a few have been making me cringe to look back on, so I’m happy to be rid of them. I won’t delete any posts after today, you can be my witness. 🙂
